A route woven together from old tracks and paths which wind from village to village in the very heart of the tropical jungle.
From Chiang Mai to Doi Chiang Dao, the biggest mountain range of Thailand through intervening peaks, bluish crests and ridges.
Held in remote areas in direct contact with the ethnic minorities, stations and overnights are organized in their mountain villages.
An hour by plane from Bangkok, Chiang Mai is the capital of the North and beloved by the Thais. It is both a traditional walled city open to the modern world. It has a long history full of myth and legend as countless ruins and temples. The tenor of life is gentle, its rhythm easy and the city is perfectly placed for lovers of the beauty of nature and of mountain sports.
Chiang Mai is the perfect base camp for our adventure.
The center and its little streets full of bars and restaurants, the countless street markets and food stalls, the local Thai traditional massage skills make Chiang Mai a privileged holiday destination. The hundreds of temples, the old walls of the city and its moat, the monks wandering around the city to get morning offerings give the city some spirituality and a rare traditional atmosphere.
The mission of Queen of the Jungle is to raise money to develop sport projects for children in the hill-tribes.
At the beginning of the project, it appeared to us essential to involve all tribal villages alongside the track. In the first editions of the race, we raised money to build sport grounds (football, badminton) for the children of the hill-tribes.
The next editions of the race will be dedicated to raise money to promote sport for disabled kids. We will work in relationship with a school for disabled kids located in Mae Jo, near Chiang Mai. The money will be spent to build a swimming pool and a basket playground (as paying sport teacher salary), so disabled kids can enjoy all the benefits from doing sport.
